Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of permanent make up?
The most common comment is the time it saves. Most women spend on average 15 minutes a day putting on make up. That’s over 91 hours a year. I bet you know where that time could be spent. And they talk about the confidence it gives them knowing they always look good. It’s wonderful because permanent make up will never run from watery eyes, smudge from oily skin and does not sweat off for athletes. And for those who are physically and visually impaired and allergic to traditional make up it’s a dream come true.

What is permanent make up?
Permanent make-up is cosmetic tattooing. In the permanent make-up field It’s called micropigmentation or dermagraphics. It’ all the same . The goal is to get pigment into the upper reticular layer of the dermas.

How is it done?
There are various methods used to achieve the deposit of pigment in the skin. Traditional tattoo or coil machines, rotary or pen machines and the hand method. I use a pen machine.

Does it hurt?
I use a 2-step process using the very best numbing agents available for permanent make up. Most people say the only thing they feel is a vibration and a tickling feeling.

How long does it take?
It can take from anywhere in between 20 min.- 2 ½ hours. But each personality is different with different physical reactions. For those relaxed personalities the time is much shorter. For those who are stressed and nervous I take my time. The goal is to make it as comfortable as possible and to have a beautiful result. It’s your face and I think you want someone to be as careful as possible, not to rush you through to get to the next one.

Do men ever have permanent make up done?
Yes. More men are seeking help for eyebrows and skimpy eye lashes. The technique is much more subtle. It must look absolutely natural!

Do you use disposable needles?
Yes. I do use disposable needles. There are three parts to the machine that are disposable and is changed for each client.

What will I look like after the procedure?
Generally there is some swelling of the treated area. Eyebrows show very little after effect. Eyeliner may show more edema (swelling) for 2 to 3 days sometime it will just look like you have been crying with out the make-up smear. If you are doing full lips they show the most swelling and the slowest to heal. The color is always darker until the exfoliation is complete. Then the color is much softer. Usually you could go right back to work but it’s more important to apply a cool compress for faster internal healing.

How long does it take to heal?
The epidermis (outer skin) will feel good in 2 or 3 days and exfoliate completely in 7 or 8 days. Internal healing will take 4 to 6 weeks. Lips will take a bit longer.

Will I need a touch up?
Yes. Most people need at least one more application of pigment. Think of the first as the primer and the second as the final coat.
